Our Bees
Our bees spend the entire year here on our farm, allowing us to know each colony and provide the individual care and attention it deserves. They forage naturally among the forests, meadows, gardens, orchards, and more than 120 magnificent Garry oak trees that surround our apiary.

Resilient and Disease-Free Colonies
Mid- summer onwards can be a challenging time for honey bees as many flowers have finished blooming. Fortunately, our Garry oaks often provide an important source of honeydew provided by a tiny Gall Wasp, giving our bees something to forage when nectar is in short supply. Because of this unique landscape, our colonies can remain at home throughout the season rather than needing to follow changing nectar flows or crop rotations.

We believe that healthy, settled colonies produce exceptional honey that truly reflects the character of the Cowichan Valley and the remarkable place our bees call home.
We breed our queens and nucs from healthy, strong colonies with proven track records of survival and productivity over at least three years. Our bees are well-suited to the Canadian climate and beekeeping practices. We're introducing Varroa mite-resistant genes and use only organic miticides to maintain their health.
