Discovery Tours : learn about bees and see them safely behind glass
What sets HoneyBee Lane Bees apart is our diverse collection of hives. See beekeeping history with our Skep hive (unoccupied), compare it to the modern Langstroth hive, peek inside the Slovenian AZ hive on rainy days, explore the African Top Bar hive, and witness the innovative Australian Flow Hive. No special clothing or protective gear is required for our Discovery Tour making it a hit for whole family.
Adventure Tours - hands on up close and personal with the honey bees.
In addition to learning about Honey Bees and wandering through our Bee Yard walk to explore the different styles of hives we use, you’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at how we raise and select our Queen Bees. We’ll show you where the queens lay their eggs and explain how new queens are created right here at HoneyBee Lane Bees. Our bee yard is a truly buzzing place in summer, home to more than two million bees. Suited up in comfortable protective clothing, you’ll stand right beside us as we gently open active hives. Together, we’ll peek into the fascinating inner world of a colony—brood frames, pollen stores, nectar, capped honey, larvae… and, when the stars align, we may even spot a Queen Bee herself.
It’s a lively, hands-on experience that brings amazing honey bees to life.

Adventure Tours PPE - your safety
On our Adventure Tours your safety is our priority. We provide full coverage bee suits for all sizes from aged 5 years old to 3X mens. We strongly recommend closed toe shoes such as sneakers or ankle boots. Socks are a good idea too. Please wear layers so that you are able to adjust for the weather. We provide gloves, bottled water, rain gear and a short orientation of "do's and don'ts". We have a selection of boots if you are not able to bring covered toed shoes.
Ask a beekeeper anything; As part of your visit you'll have the chance to ask any questions - from "why do bees build hexagon comb" to "what happens to bees in winter". Whether you are a curious first-timer or an experienced hobbyist, there's something for everyone.
At HoneyBee Lane Bees, we believe that knowledge is the best tool for advocacy. The more people understand bees — their needs, their challenges (varroa, habitat loss, forage gaps, climate stress) — the more likely we are to act in their favour. By attending a yard visit you become part of the solution: informed, inspired, and connected.
Housekeeping: The forested area has uneven surfaces that may not be accessible to all wheelchairs. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
We like a minimum of 2 participants with maximum of 10. We have a "Unisex Forest Loo" (porta-potty) which serves as a washroom.
Participants will be required to sign a waiver acknowledging their attendance is at their own risk. Parents/Guardians are required to sign for minors.
