Welcome to HoneyBee Lane Bees

At HoneyBee Lane Bees, we produce premium honey on our family-owned organic farm in the beautiful Cowichan Valley near Duncan, British Columbia. Our bees forage among Garry oak meadows, wildflowers, forests, orchards, and gardens, creating distinctive seasonal honeys that reflect the landscape around them.

From May through September, we welcome visitors to experience the fascinating world of honey bees through our small-group Bee Farm Tours. Guests enjoy an engaging behind-the-scenes look at life inside a working apiary while discovering the remarkable role honey bees play in our environment. Schools, colleges, and universities are welcome by advance arrangement.

Our farm is also home to free-ranging chickens, a friendly farm dog, and a charming farm stand where visitors can browse our honey and other locally produced farm products after their tour.

From time to time we have a limited surplus of nucleus colonies or queens available. These are offered only when available, and we are unable to accept advance orders.

Whether you are looking for exceptional local honey, a memorable farm experience, or simply a chance to reconnect with nature, we look forward to welcoming you to HoneyBee Lane Bees.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can we expect on a Bee Farm tour?

Tours take place outside come rain or shine.  A certified Beekeeping Instructor provides a history of beekeeping and information about honey bees and their admirable social structure.

We have several bee hives to view including Top Bar, Flow Hive, Langstroth, Slovanian AZ and Skep.   There is some, but not very much walking.

How close do we get to bees?

Visitors on a Discovery Tour are separated from the honey bees with glass but are only inches away and it's usually possible to see a Queen Bee;  please wear closed toe shoes and socks.

Visitors on Adventure tours are provided a bee suit and gloves and are able to open bee hives and touch bees with a gloved hand.    Please wear layers and boots that cover your ankles.  We do have a few sizes of boots for all ages for those who are travelling and do not have boots on hand.

Visitors on Young Explorers are separated by glass.  We focus on the fun aspects of honey bees.

Where is the Bee Farm Located

HoneyBee Lane Bees is located only 3 kilometers from Duncan city center on shores of peaceful Quamichan Lake.  The property is unspoiled and contains old growth trees and over 120 historic Garry Oaks.

Tours take place in the upper section of the propery.  The reception area is located in a small grove of trees where the deer have their babies in the Spring.

From a busy street, the half kilometer driveway leads you to a sanctuary for honey bees and pollinators alike.  Bunnies, quail and occasional deer are often the first to greet you as you drive the half kilometre driveway into a world where time has stopped still.
